Frequently Asked Questions

We know that bringing your dog or cat in for a checkup or treatment can raise a lot of questions. Whether you are a new client or have been visiting us for years, we want every appointment to go as smoothly as possible. Below you will find clear answers to the most common questions our team receives about appointments, payment, cancellations, and what to bring. If you ever need more information, our friendly staff is just a phone call away at 250-652-3131.
Yes, an appointment is required for all visits to our clinic. We do not accept walk-in patients because every animal deserves dedicated time with one of our veterinarians. Brentwood Bay Veterinary Clinic sees dogs and cats on an appointment-only basis to keep our schedule manageable and ensure each pet receives the attention they need. New clients are always welcome, and you can call us during our regular hours to book a time that works for you. We serve the Brentwood Bay and Saanich Peninsula communities and look forward to meeting your furry family member.
We ask for full payment at the time services are rendered, and we do not make exceptions to this policy. We cannot leave a balance on account for any pet. To make it easy, we accept Visa, Mastercard, Debit, and Cash. We do not carry a large variety of payment methods, so please plan accordingly. If you have questions about the cost of a recommended treatment or procedure, feel free to ask when you book your appointment. Our team will gladly provide an estimate so there are no surprises.
Our clinic is closed on Mondays and Sundays. From Tuesday through Friday we are open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. On Saturdays we are here from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. These hours work well for most families, but we understand that pet health concerns do not always follow a schedule. If your pet needs urgent care after hours, we can direct you to a trusted emergency facility (see the emergency section below). Please note that our holiday hours may differ, so it is always a good idea to check our website’s homepage or call ahead if you hoping for an appointment around a statutory holiday.
We understand that life happens, and sometimes you need to change a scheduled visit. For regular appointments, we ask for at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. If you do not show up or you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, a missed appointment fee will be charged. For surgical bookings, we require a full seven days notice to cancel or change the appointment. A cancellation charge will apply if you give less than seven days notice. This policy helps us keep our schedule open for other pets who may be waiting for care.
Your pet’s safety and comfort are important to us. When you come to Brentwood Bay Veterinary Clinic, dogs must arrive on a leash and cats must be inside a secure carrier. This rule applies to every visit, no exceptions. The leash and carrier help prevent escapes, reduce anxiety, and keep all animals in our waiting area safe. If your cat is nervous about carrier travel, consider placing a familiar blanket or a favourite toy inside the carrier ahead of time. For dogs, a sturdy leash that you can hold comfortably will make check-in much easier. If you are a new client, please call ahead with your pet’s vaccination history or any previous medical records so we can keep a complete file.
Brentwood Bay Veterinary Clinic has been located in Brentwood Bay Village for over 35 years. We are a small, privately owned clinic dedicated exclusively to canine and feline companions. Our services include wellness exams, vaccinations, dental care with professional cleaning and oral health assessments, in-house radiology and laboratory services, surgery with pre-surgical evaluation, and hospitalized treatment. We also offer nutrition counselling, senior pet care guidance, and preventive medicine such as flea and parasite control. For a full list of what we provide, view our Services page or give us a call.
If your pet experiences an emergency when our clinic is closed, please contact one of the two 24/7 emergency hospitals we recommend. WAVES Veterinary Emergency is located at 947 Langford Parkway in Langford and can be reached at 778-432-4322. Central Victoria Veterinary Hospital is at 760 Roderick Street in Victoria and their phone number is 250-475-2495. Both facilities are open around the clock and equipped to handle urgent cases. Always call ahead so they know you are coming.
